Toward The Future/From The Past

1. I got annoyed because the set could have been way more complicated if it was a movie rather than a play. I also didn't like explaining the stage directions and all that stuff on every scene. which is why movies are better than plays. the strengths i saw were i think it was fairly easy to write. The pleasant and unpleasant suprises that i found are the same as the previous two questions.

2. If i were to give a 10 year old advice it would be about school. I would probably tell him that grades dont really matter until 9th grade and its only important that you learn the stuff so you have it for later use. once you get into 9th grade is when you actually have to start trying. My advice would be based on experience because i have attended those grades and i know that it doesnt matter at all what grades you get until 9th grade. It only matters whether you fail or not because then that is bad news.

3. I think great literary works last for such a long time because they are really good works of art. people write good plays and lots of people like them so they last for a long time. No i dont think i could see myself writing something that will last for a long time just because i cant see myself writing a book or play outside of school. And I'm flat out just not talented enough to write a good play or movie or book that other people would like so much to show it to their children and grandchildren.

1. The theme is one of the most important pieces in a movie or book. I dont think a great piece of literature necessarily needs to express an idea to be a good work but most literature pieces do express a clear message. Back to the subject of theme, I believe that theme is a necesity to a good play. A clear theme can make a story or literature piece be much better.

2. In the rare event that i might write a play I think the theme would be not very complicated. It would be a short simple theme but i would try to tie in more complex meanings behind the simple main theme. It would be crazy. An idea of a simplistic yet complicated theme would probably be something having to do with pirates. Pirates are the ultimate G's. They do what they want, when they want. If you steal their gold, you're as good as dead.

3. I would have many different conflicts all through out the play. All different kinds of conflicts would be in my play. it would be the best play ever. Self v. self, person v. person, self vs. nature, and so much more. As i already said, it would be the best play ever. I would do a bunch of different conflicts just because it would be very easy to make a play with a bunch of different stories. It would either turn out good or really really bad

Why is reading so crucial for a writer? Whenever I've heard writers speak--be it playwrights, novelists, or poets--they talk about the importance of reading. In Pat Conroy's memoir My Losing Season, in fact, he goes into great depth about the books he was devouring at that point in his life and what they meant to him.

So, talk about the role of reading to the writer and why it is important. If you disagree, then explain why you think OTHERS think it is important. Write at least 100 words.

Response: The role of reading to the writer is very important because of a lot of different reasons. The main reason being it can expand the writer's writing abilities. The writer can learn a lot from reading such as different writing styles, formating, and other things. Reading can also be used as a way of learning. The more you read, the more you will know. Another thing about reading as a writer is there is so many different books on so many different topics so there is a book somewhere that you pretty much have to enjoy.

2. What is something you see in your world that concerns you? This could be something among your peer group, something you see in America, or something you see in the world. What is your interpretation of this topic, and why do you feel that way? Write at least 75 words about it.

Response: The main thing in this world that concerns me is drugs. Drugs are the source of all evil. All of those illegal substances are tearing this country apart one eightball at a time. Dope heads are no good. They have nothing to contribute to this country except violence and havoc. If there were no drugs there would be way less crime, and more people to contribute to good things.

3. What is one piece of art (painting, movie, book, song, whatever) that has greatly inspired you? What is that piece and what about it has inspired you? Explain in detail. Write at least 100 words.

Response: A movie that has greatly inspired me is The Persuit of Happiness. This movie is about a man played by Will Smith who literally goes from rags to riches. He starts out with a wife and son and a job and a house. When his job takes a turn for the worse his wife leaves him and he and his son are forced to move out of their house and jump from homeless shelter to homeless shelter. Throughout the movie Will Smith is looking for a steady job. He finds ways to conserve time and money to try and make it in his job.
